“U Źródła” is a pedigree dog kennel registered with the Polish Kennel Club (ZKwP / FCI). With passion and commitment we are expanding our work to include the Finnish Lapphund (suomenlapinkoira).
We breed at home, in daily contact with our dogs. From their first days of life we surround the puppies with attentive care and early socialisation, so that they grow into balanced, confident and healthy family dogs.
How our Finnish adventure began
I met my first Finnish Lapphund at the World Dog Show 2014 in Helsinki. In Poland the breed was very rare at the time. These dogs captivated me with their friendly, positive temperament and the variety of their colours. I promised myself then that if I ever wanted to breed a second breed, it would be this one.
At the end of 2023 my six-year-old son Kasjan wanted to come to dog shows with me and handle a dog of his own. My shepherds were too big for him, so we decided to look for a dog for Kasjan — and I remembered the Finnish Lapphunds. Through breeder friends and wonderful friends in Finland I found the breeders Tero Bister and Marjo Vierikko and their litter, born on 7 January 2024. It was they who chose the right puppy bitch for us from that litter, based on what I was looking for. Pepsi had to wait a while longer with our wonderful friends in Finland until she was ready to travel to Poland. In early May 2024 I flew out with Kasjan to collect our shared dream, and that is how our Finnish adventure began.
Pepsi settled into our pack of White Swiss Shepherds immediately and without trouble. Kasjan began taking part in handling and obedience training with her. The bond between them grew stronger by the day. Within a month they entered their first pedigree dog show, and since then they have been collecting successes in the ring — Junior Winner, Best of Breed, Best Opposite Sex and nominations for CRUFTS.
Pepsi keeps proving to me what a wonderful and versatile breed the Finnish Lapphund is. I have made many valuable contacts and friendships with breeders of the breed abroad. Seeing how much joy Pepsi brings our family, I decided to start breeding this breed.
Our principles
Three principles guide our breeding work:
- Health — responsible pairing and health testing in line with the recommendations for the breed.
- Temperament — dogs with the sound, friendly disposition typical of the breed.
- Conformity to the standard — care for the type and beauty of the Finnish Lapphund.
